Japanese Studies and Intellectual Exchange
The Japanese Studies and Intellectual Exchange programs and events offered through The Japan Foundation, Toronto exist to promote awareness and deepen understanding of Japan in Canada and to support networks of scholars and public leaders who will approach public and private policy with a greater sensitivity between Japan and other countries. These activities include:
- Japanese Studies and Intellectual Exchange programs open to scholars and researchers or academic and public institutions
- small-scale local grants for Japanese Studies-related events and conferences
- a Lecture Series held at our Event Hall which features prominent academic speakers who can provide insight into aspects of Japanese culture, art, literature, film, politics, and history

Local Grants
Academic or cultural institutions that are organising an event ( e.g. a small conference) which promotes an understanding of Japan or Japan and Canada, or that are conducting academic projects related to Japanese-language, may be eligible for a local grant. Due to a decrease in funding, the Japan Foundation, Toronto will be offering a very limited number of local grants in the 2008-09 fiscal year. Please contact tmiki@jftor.org for further information.
