Loan Program of Video Materials for Japanese-Language Education in Canada
"TV Commercials for Japanese Classrooms 2005"

Dear Japanese Language Teachers,

A new video teaching resource kit for Japanese-language is now available for educational institutions that offer Japanese-language courses in Canada. Developed by the Japan Foundation, "TV Commercials for Japanese Classrooms 2005" resource kit is available on loan for free. Please read the following instructions if you wish to apply to borrow the materials. The resource kit materials can be borrowed for a maximum two months at a time and it is expected that the user will provide feedback from their classroom.

Concept of the Resource

"TV Commercials for Japanese Classrooms 2005" is a collection of 51 TV commercial segments that have been awarded prizes in the All Japan Radio and Television Commercials Confederation (ACC) Japan Commercial Film Festival in 2002. The resource kits are designed to stimulate the learner's interest in Japanese by demonstrating the language in action in everyday life of the Japanese people. The resource kit consists of a 47-minute videotape with the 51 TV commercials, a manual in English and Japanese, and a photo panel for each of the commercials on the videotape. It will be useful in introducing Japanese culture to learners at different levels. Although the videos show TV commercials, it is not meant to promote the products or the companies depicted.

Availability

"TV Commercials for Japanese Classrooms 2005" will be available for loan to any educational institution offering a Japanese language course. The resource kit materials are to be used for Japanese language teaching purposes only. During the period of time from June 2005 to March 2008, the resource kit can be borrowed for a maximum of two months. The complete kit must be returned promptly to the address it was sent from. Renewals are available upon completion of a renewal application. Due to copyright issues, this resource will not be available for sale or available from the Japan Foundation's Teaching Materials Donation Program.

Both Japanese and international copyright laws protect "TV Commercials for Japanese Classrooms 2005".
