Japanese-Language Education Programs

Local Grant Program for Japanese-Language Education
Presented by The Japan Foundation, Toronto

This program is intended to promote Japanese-language education in Canada by providing financial support to a wide range of activities essential to the dissemination of Japanese-language and the development of Japanese-language education.

We offer a variety of grants, depending on your organization’s needs, so please review the application process below, and determine which grant is most appropriate.

The Japan Foundation, Toronto must receive all applications by July 1, 2011.

Programs:
Japanese-Language Speech Contest and Activities Support Grant
For costs involved in holding speech contests, presentations, and debate contests intended to motivate students and raise interest in Japanese-language education.
Staff Expansion Grant
Pays part of the honorarium granted to Japanese-language teachers when they start a new Japanese-language course or increase the number of courses.
Teaching Material Purchase and Japanese-language Education Resource Centre Establishment Grant
Pays part of the cost of purchasing teaching materials and supplementary materials needed by Japanese-language teachers.
Conference Grant
For costs involved in holding seminars, workshops, symposiums and training sessions.
Publication Grant
For costs involved in preparing and publishing teaching materials.
Partial Support for Participating in Educational Meetings
Intended for teachers whose organizations are located in areas where no educational meetings are held, thereby necessitating travel in order to participate.
Other original proposals
For carrying out projects that have been planned by the applicant aiming to promote Japanese-language education and/or train Japanese-language teachers.

Instructions for Applying:

  1. Download the Grant Program Application Instructions file from the link below.
  2. After reviewing the instructions, select which type of grant is most appropriate for your organization’s needs.
  3. Download Application Form AB. Additionally, in accordance with the type of grant you have selected, download Application Form C-I, C-II, C-III or C-IV.
  4. Complete the Application Forms and mail them to The Japan Foundation, Toronto by July 1, 2011.

    Please keep in mind: The Japan Foundation, Toronto must receive all applications by July 1, 2011.
